Join Phill and Sheila Barnes (Charlette Rose) Membership@shotleypointyc.org for this delightful cruise up the little used Ore River, anchoring up just short of Havergate Island bird sanctuary. After a short trip up the coast, we cross Orford Haven Bar just past Shingle Street.
Timings are crucial and buoyage is not to be ignored when crossing the Orford Haven Bar, but there is always the opportunity to follow an experienced skipper especially if they read the depth out to you over the radio, don’t be afraid to ask.
Once at anchor enjoy the peace and quiet of the untamed Suffolk Coast. Try your hand at fishing or get your tender out and explore the tributaries of the Ore, then join us for Drinks and Nibbles. Later back on your own boat sit back with a glass of what takes your fancy and look through the unpolluted sky to the heavens above.
(As always, the below information is based on my interpretation of the Almanac and I do make mistakes. All information is based on a boat with a 2m draft [Deepest draft within the club] traveling at 5 Nautical Miles in the hour and all times are local. It is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure the planning for their vessel.)
