Join us for this delightful cruise up the Deben to Woodbridge’s Tidemill Marina. The Deben is arguably one of the prettiest rivers in Britain, and the quaint market town of Woodbridge offers many eateries and lots of shops to look around. Visit the last remaining Tide Mill in the country or simply enjoy the scenery of traditional boat yards and house boats along the quayside.
Timings are crucial and buoyage is not to be ignored when crossing the Deben Bar, but there is always the opportunity to follow an experienced skipper especially if they read the depth out to you over the radio, don’t be afraid to ask.
Following the inbound tide up the Deben past Old Felixstowe, The Ramsholt Arms on the North bank, past the Waldringfield Maybush on the South bank. No time to stop for a drink as we have to catch the high tide and get over the bar to the marina. (the depth gauge is accurate)
(As always, the below information is based on my interpretation of the Almanac and I do make mistakes. All information is based on a boat with a 2m draft [Deepest draft within the club] traveling at 5 Nautical Miles in the hour and all times are local. It is the skippers’ responsibility to ensure the planning for their vessel.)
