Club Cruising Days provide an opportunity for ALL members to get out on the water for social day sails and cruising in company. These are separate from the programme of longer cruises and the aim is to involve as many members as possible in Club sailing.
As well as involving boat-owning members and their crew, Club Cruising Days also provide cruising opportunities for non-boat owning members of the Crew Pool Scheme, to develop skills and gain further experience, and for novice members to further their interest in boating. Our team of Volunteer Skippers will take out non-boat owning members of the Crew Pool Scheme. Please Note: There is no obligation for boat-owning members to take anyone other than their regular crew, although additional help is always welcome.
Everyone is invited to take part in the first Club Cruising Day on Saturday 5 June 2021. We will be sailing in company (as far as is possible!) to the entrance of the River Ore and anchoring or rafting up for lunch in Hollesley Bay. If anyone would like to do the trip but prefer not to stop at Hollesley Bay, that’s fine. The outline plan with a rough schedule is:
08:30 Meet at Shotley Marina for briefing and crew allocation where required
10:00 Be locked out
12:30 Arrive Orford Haven SWM. Anchor / raft up in Hollesley Bay (arrangements will be agreed beforehand)
13:30 Depart Hollesley Bay
16:00 Arrive off Shotley
