In June 2022 Essex and Suffolk are combining to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a Festival of the Sea to inspire people to participate and celebrate all aspects of the sea and our extensive coastlines.
One highlight will be a parade of boats representing the two counties with flags and bunting, and featuring a variety of vessels from organisations including the Royal Navy, Trinity House, Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) and the RNLI.
Convening between Essex and Suffolk, at the confluence of the rivers Stour and Orwell, the fleet will assemble near the Ganges Buoy at Shotley Spit.
The parade will start at 14:00 on Saturday 18th June 2022 – High Water Harwich: 15:34 BST. Participating boats will pass spectators at the following times.
14:30 Harwich Ha’penny Pier
15:00 Felixstowe Landguard Fort
15:30 Shotley Marina
16:00 Dispersing off Ha’penny Pier
It would be good for our club to be represented, so if any SPYC members would like to take part, please book below. Further details will be available nearer the time.
